DAY 4: INDIVIDUAL PURSUITS
Activity 1: Making a Racket [4 points]
Billie Jean King, Venus Williams, and Serena Williams are three exceptional, female tennis players. They are not only outstanding athletes and some of the best tennis players in the world, but they have fought for women to be recognised as equals to men in the game of tennis. Billie Jean King famously beat a male tennis player, Bobby Riggs, in 1973, to prove to the public that women could compete at any level in tennis.
Billie Jean King was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1987, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and was recently awarded the BBC Sports Personality of the Year - Lifetime Achievement Award.
i learnt from two videos about Serena Williams and Venus Williams is that they are almost the most paid women in the world of sports and they are also extremely talented at tennis and that Serena has had a child.

Kia ora Courtney,
ReplyDeleteWasn't it such a beautiful weekend! My son, Nico, and I went to the Auckland Botanical Gardens twice as they are just a walk away from our house. The rest of the weekend we spent in the garden as we are doing some landscaping and planting lots of new plants. What did you get up to over the weekend. Did you spend some time outside?
Well done on posting and continuing to participate in the SLJ this year. It is great to see you being so active over the summer and continuing your learning. This is going to help you so much when you return to school.
Did you see that Serena Williams just won the women's singles final in Auckland yesterday? How special that you have completed an activity about her and she is here in our country making history. She has also donated all of her 1st place winnings to the Australian bush fires. What a beautiful act of kindness this is.
Until next time, happy blogging.
Megan :)
