Activity 2: The Right to an Education [4 points]
Malala Yousafzai is a woman who was born and raised in Pakistan. In 2012, she was shot and wounded when traveling home on the bus from school. At the time, girls (and women) living in Pakistan were not encouraged, or even allowed, to go to school. It is widely believed that Malala was attacked because she (and her father) did not agree with this idea and they felt that women had the right to an education.
Once Malala recovered from her injuries she continued to advocate (fight) for the rights of all women to receive an education. For this work, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 - the youngest person to ever receive this prestigious prize. You can read more of her story here.
As well as giving speeches in front of many very important and influential people, Malala has written books about her own life. She has also written a book for children called Malala’s Magic Pencil.
My short story ill write about my holiday so far
My first Christmas was at my house i got lots of sports wear and i also got a long bourd which i love so much i ride it all the time as well as my roller blades that i have had for a while,i got lollies like lots of lollies and i got a little bit of clothes and my mum gave me a serial killer book that i love more than anything because i´m a little strange. My parents 4 siblings and i went to my grandparents house for our second Christmas I got lots of sports wear and lollies also i got a new bike and new Fila shoes ill leave a picture at the bottom of the screen . Our 3rd Christmas was great i got to meat lots of my family that i had never met before at a pool party. We had a massive lunch and also the best thing about it was you could take as much as you wanted to and wouldn't be looked at strangely for being a bit to greedy. There were a lot or different things to do there but the ting i spent the most time doing was flipping my sister (Who can swim just to clarify) off the pool floaty. I got to see My favorite cousins Jack and Jorge there jobs are cool especially jacks he is part of the navy and rights real pirates. He takes us out to get mac Donald's and we can get anything which we never get to happen to us.The last time i went to mac Donald´s with him was in 2017 because he is so busy fighting pirates. But he is kind and the best part is he let me chose my meal it was a big mac combo with a ice cream and a large drink and extra fries because i never get to go to mac Donald´s.Jorge is a electrician but he recently got in an accident a power box blew up in his face and he got burned and was in hospital for a long time.

Tālofa Lava Courtney,
ReplyDeleteKueni here again from the Summer Learning Journey (SLJ). I hope you are having a lovely Tuesday afternoon. I really enjoyed reading your short story blog post today about your Christmas celebrations.
Wow, you are so lucky! It sounds like you had such a fun-filled Christmas spent with all your loved ones and family. You didn’t only have 1 Christmas but you got to celebrate Christmas 3 times, it must have been such a busy day! Christmas is my favourite season and I am happy to read that you spent yours surrounded by family and even meeting a whole lot of new family at Christmas #3.
I am so sorry to hear about your cousin Jorge’s accident. It’s such a risky business being an electrician but I am so happy he was able to be there with you all to celebrate your Christmas.
I know it might be hard considering you had such a long day and you probably have more than one answer, but what was your favourite part of the day on Christmas?
Tofa Soifua,
Kueni.
